Welcome to Tempered Calamity! For as long as horses can remember, this place has been their santucary far removed from the presence of any humans. Well protected and abundant in food and space, equines of all kinds have called these lands home. Over time, the original horses who settled here spread out to explore and established the territory boundaries known today.
On the surface things appear peaceful between the different bands as well as the free roaming horses, but all is not as it seems. The inhabitants here are under constant threat. Not only do they have to survive the elements and natural disasters and outwit predators, they must also face rival herds or individuals looking to steal land or other horses.

a prophetic birth, cepheus and his twin sister nereida came to life in the aftermath of a terrible hurricane that ravaged the isle. in the months that followed, his father, then king, and sister would disappear, alongside most of the laipawans. after an extended absence, cepheus returned to laipawa to claim his throne - to the satisfaction of old and new gods alike.

THE RING OF FIRE — formerly the circle of jade. these equines are among the king's most trusted. the ring of fire oversees and advises the king in his decision making.

the dragonfly, OPEN — the head of security, and the king's right hand. the dragonfly is typically a strong, tough type, whose roles range from protecting the herd from outside threats, to standing in the king's place in the event of his absence. should the king pass with no heir, the dragonfly is next to ascend to the throne.
the spider, OPEN— of name. very much the liason of the island, the spider is responsible for overseeing much of the day-to-day activity upon laipawa, reporting to the king when necessary. he or she is also in charge of island recruitment, and is expected to make frequent trips between the isle and the main land.
the oracle, OPEN — of name. the oracle is the third eye of the island, a spiritual advisor and link between the seen and unseen.
