Welcome to Tempered Calamity! For as long as horses can remember, this place has been their santucary far removed from the presence of any humans. Well protected and abundant in food and space, equines of all kinds have called these lands home. Over time, the original horses who settled here spread out to explore and established the territory boundaries known today.
On the surface things appear peaceful between the different bands as well as the free roaming horses, but all is not as it seems. The inhabitants here are under constant threat. Not only do they have to survive the elements and natural disasters and outwit predators, they must also face rival herds or individuals looking to steal land or other horses.

The Ruins

 Scattered grey stones placed in a distinct shape decorate the land here. No one knows how or when they were formed, if made by horse or nature's hand, but they provide excellent shelter as well as a gathering place for the horses who live here. [/presto]

The Lake

 Formed by a glacier that rested here and has since melted into this sparkling lake, the waters here are cold and refreshing. They say that horses of old used to swim here in the coldest months of winter as a rite of passage but if the tradition lives on to this day, none by the horses who live here know. [/presto]

The Plateau

An expanse of elevated clearing nestled to the northeast side of the mainland, it shares a border with The Great Expanse. The ground is a patchwork of grass and rock intermixed throughout and is said to have been the first established territory when horses were still discovering the lands and settling here.
