Welcome to Tempered Calamity! For as long as horses can remember, this place has been their santucary far removed from the presence of any humans. Well protected and abundant in food and space, equines of all kinds have called these lands home. Over time, the original horses who settled here spread out to explore and established the territory boundaries known today.
On the surface things appear peaceful between the different bands as well as the free roaming horses, but all is not as it seems. The inhabitants here are under constant threat. Not only do they have to survive the elements and natural disasters and outwit predators, they must also face rival herds or individuals looking to steal land or other horses.
Tempered Calamity is a semi-realistic wild horse rpg inspired by old school play by post forums. Low word count and minimal activity requirements, come check us out or say hey on our discord!

[attr="class","maintext"] While semi-realism can encompass a wide range of things, here on Tempered Calamity it means that we allow for some unnatural colours or behaviours and social dynamics not found in realistic wild horses. For example, you can have a character with unusual eye colours or have herd ranks or positions such as spies or assassins or other roles normal horses wouldn't have in real life. Magical powers, supernatural equines, etc are not allowed.

Do I have to create a horse or can I create other species?
[attr="class","maintext"] Horses, donkeys, or mules are allowed. In the latter for donkey's & mules, they must be purchased from our shop first. Unfortunately zebras are not allowed at this time.

[attr="class","labeltext"]
Can I create a pregnant character?
[attr="class","maintext"] Yes! But you will need to fill out two separate character applications for both the mare and the foal.

[attr="class","labeltext"]
Does my character have to come from/lived here first or can they have come from outside?
[attr="class","maintext"] While most horses have probably lived here their whole life, outsiders do come as well! Feel free to pick whichever option you feel more interested in.

[attr="class","labeltext"]
Can I claim more than one territory?
[attr="class","maintext"] No. Please give other people a chance to claim a land first. If after some time in real life the land is still unclaimed, you're welcome to. Just keep in mind that herd leaders have different activity requirements than regular characters and you would be required to meet the activity levels for both of your herd leaders.

[attr="class","labeltext"]
If my character is a herd lead and I am going on vacation/will be away and will miss the activity check, will I get a strike?
[attr="class","maintext"] No. If you've notified the staff that you will be away during the herd lead activity check period, you'll be immune. Just make sure to post when you get back!
